This has to stop now. The same ring tone that kept buzzing in her mind over and over again after each blow. It’s been seventeen years and two months of non-stop abuse from her spouse who happens to be the youth Pastor everyone was looking up to for guidance, wisdom, and counsel. They loved him. But the mask that was on behind the closed doors of his home was evil. It didn’t reflect the character of his Creator. Christ. It was time for his secret sin to be uncovered. But she allowed the spirit of fear that her Father hadn’t given her to supersede. She continued to conceal it with a smile and pride. But for how long?
Washing off the bloodstained kerchief that stuck to her swollen eye as she wept immensely in front the mirror, questioning herself she said, “What have you done to deserve this? This isn’t love. It’s all just a show! Where has my real husband gone? Where is he? Oh God! Help me! I can’t do this anymore! I can’t live a lie before you ANY LONGER! I hate deceiving myself for too long now! Please give us another chance to get it right! Please give me back my husband Lord! Please! I’m tiredddd!” as she screamed from the top of her lungs slouching down at the side of the face basin holding unto her stomach. After an hour full of travail, she rested as her Father spoke to her. “I can change your husband’s heart. Don’t doubt what I can do. I love you just like that. You’ve suffered enough. He’s mine. Rest in me. I will deliver him.” She woke up from the sleep her tears wheeled her into.
“I will wait until his change comes. I believe you, Lord. I believe…” rising off the floor comforted.
MONDAY NIGHT @ 7:30PM, JUST BEFORE YOUTH’S MINISTRY.
“Wait on the Lord, be of good courage and he shall strengthen thy heart, wait I say on the Lord. Psalm twenty-seven verseeee… fourteen?” Hazel orbs blinked uncertainly.
“Yes, hun. You got it right! That was good. Keep it up. And remove all doubt from your heart okay.” Giving her a kiss on the forehead as she blushed. The door of the office opened harshly with a deafening slam as the beast entered.
“Mia…where are my files for tonight’s meeting?” pausing in front of the desk.
“Not now Sophia. Please sit back down.”
“Why you so grumpy tonight? That’s not you, Dad.” She stared up at him in grave suspicion as she obeyed his command.
“Mia…the files. Now!”
“They were right here on the desk today. I didn’t move them at all. I’m not seeing them anywhere. This has never occurred before.” As she searched for the papers frantically.
“Woman, are you tryna take me for a fool or something?”
“N-no. I’m not. I-,”
“Unless you hid them yourself! Why you so delinquent?” moving behind the desk; fist folded as he was about to fire the first punch, the image of his daughter appeared on the head of his wife as she cried. “Hurt her no more!” As his eyes softened and his arms became awfully weak as they both fell down at his side; dropping to the ground he began weeping loudly.
Mia stood trembling in total shock as she watched her spouse repented of his sin before the Lord.
“Oh God! You are great! Thank you, Jesus!” as Sophia run across to comfort her mother.
God revealed to him in that moment who he was also hitting beside his wife: His daughter as well. The Lord’s heritage. His Father’s child that was loaned to him. When we hurt one another we hurt God. Because we are all His children. We all belong to Him. The spouse saw the reflection of his sin against God and on finally recognizing it, he repented from his wickedness and was delivered. His home, marriage and most importantly, his relationship with Jesus Christ was restored.
Let us not hurt each other. Let us not hurt God. But love him forever in Jesus name. Amen. Blessings, peace & grace.
