“You look great this morning dear! Where ya off to?” The old lady with the rosy cheeks as tulips questioned.
“Oh, thanks so much, Mrs. Taylor. I’m off to an audition.”
“Ouuu…you mean the big fancy one at the theatre?” Turning off the garden hose.
“Yup, but don’t mention it to Ma & Pa okay. I ain’t tell them a word.” Shamefully nodding as Mrs. T gave her the look.
She answered, “I ain’t committing no crime. It’s just this once.”
“You know that’s being dishonest, child. You ought to be true to your parents and yourself.”
“Hmph! Ah gotta go now, Mrs. Taylor. Do pray for me! Bye-bye! Give Susie girl ma love!” hurriedly walking down the trail as the old woman watched on shaking her head pitifully.
“Cover her Heavenly Lord…”
The red seats glowed under the mirror of lights that surrounded the large stage area. Many young adults were pooled there. Kelsie looked on dumbfounded from the backstage entry. It was always her dream to get here but it wasn’t what the Father had in storage for her. He had so much more to offer than just singing for a dark industry that doesn’t care about talent or your soul. Her pupils dazzled in amazement at star-shaped mics as she whispered, “Wow!” colliding into the set director.
“Oh, my bad. Sorry, much sir.”
“Focus young woman before you hurt something in here you can’t pay back for.”
“Well I’m sure you’re not referring to yourself?” she replied when he had already taken his exit.
Finally finding a seat she sat down between two teens with her auditioning number in hand. “Okay, Kel you got this. It’s just you and God. I got this. I can do this. Its gonna be all good.”
“You shouldn’t be here.” Said one of the teenagers on her right hand. Confusion took captive of her face; turning.
“Excuse me?”
“You shouldn’t be here.” As he continued to stare stage side without looking into her direction.
“Welp… I’m here already and I might as well stay all day like an owl in a tree until ma time comes to sing. I’ve reach too far to go back now, darling.” Returning her eyes to the judges, disobeying the voice of her Father God.
All the performances were excellent and sadly, was judged unfairly. The judges weren’t playing games. Not in this industry. It’s either you’re in or out. That’s it. This truth many of those that were present were blinded to including Kelsie, who knew better. You can’t serve two masters at the same time. It’s either Jesus Christ or Satan. But here she was.
“Number 17 please.”
“Ouu! That’s me! That’s me!” running out from the backstage and onto the large circumference of the shining stage as her eyes beamed excitedly.
“What’s your name darling?” asked Simon.
“Kelsie Harry, right here from Tennessee, Texas!”
“How long you’ve been singing?” asked Jennifer Lopez.
“I’m… sorry! Ma gosh! Ah can’t believe it’s you, J. Lo! Erm… about 13 years now. Currently, I sing with my church choir.”
“Haha! Oh okay. What you gon sing for us?” blinking once as the bubble popped from the gum.
“Hello by Adele.”
“Okay, do your thing hun.” Relaxing back.
After just two minutes into the first verse, she was stopped by Simon as he said, “What was that? You call that singing?”
“But-”
“We’re not gonna accept that.” Removing his glasses.
“But I can sing another song right? I’ll try harder this time around.”
“No, you can’t.”
Her heart felt like a stone had just crushed it into pieces. Deep down inside she felt convicted. The words of the teen echoed in her eardrums. Yup, I really shouldn’t be here Lord. You know what’s best for me. And this ain’t.
“Um hello! You need to remove yourself now. Its bye- bye time.” Simon rudely dismissed her.
“Who are you to say I can’t?”
“I beg your pardon?”
“Do you know who I belong to? Jesus Christ! My Savior, your Savior who died so you can be set free from sin, hell, and death!”
“Is she losing it or what?” turning to J. Lo for confirmation as the Jenny From the Block singer nods her head.
“No, I’m not. I’m sure you’re aware of this truth that can set you all free. I CAN do all things through Christ who strengthens me in Jesus name! I really feel sorry for you all. I’ll sing for the King of kings. Do have a blessed day.” Making her way off the stage as all remained silent.
1 DAY LATER:
“Darling, you’re all over the news and newspapers! This ain’t no secret again now. Your parents will find out for sure when they return from that missions trip now.” Mrs. T remarks, sipping from a rose shaped coffee cup.
“Don’t worry, I’ve told them before this got out. I’m glad it did, though. A lesson to myself and others in the body of Christ and most importantly, I preached to the lost. Glory be to God! Ain’t he something else?” she smiled.
“He sure is! I’m happy it happened that way. Seeds were planted. I’m proud of ya! God bless you always my dear!” as both shared a bear hug of love. 😄
THE END.

We are all too often tempted by the glitter in life leading us astray, there are things we should not involve ourselves in and cold, cruel people we must keep away. Our Heavenly Father tries to warn us but we all too often do not want to hear HIS words. Good Kelsie told the panel how it is because they lost it long ago.
